When people talk about greenery in Zaandam, you might think they are talking about the colourful facades that mark the famous city centre. But with cities increasingly focusing on climate adaptation, the municipality also wanted to show the importance of natural greenery in urban environments.
By installing three Urban Trees (Gleditsia triacanthos 'Sunburst'), we show the potential of modular green solutions in places where planting is not an option. Indeed, the Urban Trees were placed on top of the city archives, where the load-bearing capacity of the structure is limited and the risk of leaks is unacceptable. What better start to the day to pass a few cheerful trees before entering the building?
